The Value of Philanthropy

After their first trip to Africa they were touched by the extreme poverty and wondered if it had to be this way. They wanted to give their wealth from Microsoft back to society. Melinda raised 2.6 billion dollars around the issue of contraception for women, and Bill provided vaccines for children in Africa to decrease the number of deaths caused by diseases. Their increased generosity and their Foundation is changing the world and uplifting nutrition, survival and literacy so that countries can be smarter.

They feel that they have a responsibility to give back to the world as they continue to develop their Foundation.
