Marie Schacht

The Marie Schacht talks on social stitching explores her passion for using design as a tool for social change. The metaphor uses a sewing stitch to explain connections between people, resources, places and even organizations. According to the speaker, connections build relationships, which in turn build stronger communities.

The design fellow is currently employed at Design Corps in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has previous experience at the University of Virginia Foundation where she worked as the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for the Morven Program from November 2008 to March 2011. From there she transitioned into the role of Program Manager, where she stayed until March 2013. She received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia as well in 2008. The Marie Schacht talks clearly combine different elements of her previous experience.
