A Broad Social Network Analysis

Erik Qualman's social media overview keynote gives a thorough, yet general orientation of the way social media works and the opportunities it presents for companies. Qualman begins his keynote by talking about the way attitudes about the Internet have shifted over the years. He explains that now, ignoring the Internet (by way of ignoring social media) is failing to acknowledge the biggest shift since the industrial revolution.

Qualman goes on to outline many of the popular social networks and offers resources for companies to find out which social networks they should start with. He speaks against companies attempting to create their own social networks and instead recommends utilizing existing networks and frameworks.
