David Beck's Hispanic Social Media Keynote Reveals Interesting Stats
Jaime Neely — December 12, 2012 — Keynote Trends
David Beck, who serves as the head of social media operations at Univision, recently delivered an extremely interesting Hispanic social media keynote. At this year's Mashable Media Summit, Beck discussed the role of the Hispanic population in American media and entertainment and how they respond to social media. He encourages the audience to recognize this as a worthwhile topic as the Hispanic community is the fastest growing one of the American population; they are literally a country within a country. And, their media consumption is reflective of that. 21 percent of the Hispanic population owns an iPad, with which they are consuming monumental amounts of media.
As a result of this, they have been able to influence the ways the consume their media, most notably television. They've been able to gain more control of the spoilers they experience during live television from a time-synced feed as well as having a say by vote in the outcome of plot lines of their favorite shows.
