In his presidential address to this year's graduating class from Lake Area Tech, Barack Obama discusses the importance of community college. The President of the United States believes there are few institutions more important than community colleges to America's economic future. He shares the stories of four graduates that prove an education can change lives, the economy and the country.
The presidential address touches on themes of hope, hard work and the American dream. He says America is a place where people can pursue their individual dreams, but also act like family members so the next generation can pursue their dreams too. He believes the choice to go to a community college like Lake Area indicates an investment in self and a true act of faith in their country as well.
The president also shares his plans to put college education within reach for everybody by lowering the cost of community college to 0 and closing a tax loop hole to do so. He states in times that rewards knowledge and innovation, we can't afford for people to be priced out.
