The 2009 inauguration speech of President Obama marked a defining moment in history for both America and the rest of the world. Today the world will watch as Barack Obama is sworn into office for his second term of presidency.
His speech from four years ago emphasized his commitment and dedication to laying a new foundation for America's growth and prosperity. He expressed the need for the nation to recognize it is in the midst of crisis, but with unity and cooperation, the American people can survive and emerge stronger than ever before.
He acknowledged the badly weakened economy and the country's failure to make hard choices. He remained optimistic, however, because the people chose hope over fear. He commanded the people of American to pick themselves up, to dust themselves off and to join him on the path of rebuilding the country.
