Ed Stafford retired from the British Army in 2002. From there, he began leading extreme adventure trips. Stafford stopped his travels to work with the United Nations in Afghanistan, assisting in the democratic efforts and security. In 2012, Stafford was named one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the year.
Ed filmed and directed Discovery’s and Channel 5′s 'Walking the Amazon,' which documented the near impossible feat which he took on as a challenge -- walking the 4000 miles of the Amazon River on foot. Stafford shares personal anecdotes from his adventure in the Amazon. Maintaining optimism through a truly gruelling process requires hard focus and immense motivational power. Looking to your icons and personal belief in dark times can encourage you to power forward.
