As an individual inflicted with autism, Grandin possess an extremely valuable insight into understanding this mysterious condition. With regards to her education, Grandin holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Franklin Pierce College, a master's degree in animal sciences from Arizona State University and finally a doctorate in animal sciences from the University of Illinois. Earlier this year, she was awarded both an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Guelph and a honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Duke University.
In 2010, Grandin was named as a 'Hero' on Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world for her work on autism and behavioral studies. As well, she has written extensively on autism and animal behavior. Her most recent publications include 'The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Aspergers' and 'The Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships: Decoding Social Mysteries Through the Unique Perspectives of Autism.' Both books examine and attempt to explain the world through the perspective of an individual with autism.
