He is the founder of the non-profit organization known as the ‘Khan Academy,’ which is an online education platform that offers over 3000 free academic based videos, with a strong focus on mathematics and the sciences. In 2012, Khan was named as one of the most influential people in world by TIME 100. Prior to launching his venture, he was working as a hedge fund analyst, from which he departed in 2009.
Khan holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in mathematics, electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also achieved a Master's in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Khan has been featured on programs such as CNN, The Colbert Report and PBS News Hour. In 2010, Google awarded his company with 2 million dollars in order to enable the creation of more videos, as well as translated versions into several different languages.
