Speaker John Micklethwait is the editor-in-chief of The Economist. He studied at Magdalen College, Oxford, focusing on history. After finishing school, Micklethwait worked as a banker at Chase Manhattan for two years. Shortly after leaving his career in banking, he joined The Economist. Before becoming editor-in-chief, Micklethwait held positions such as business editor and United States editor. Aside from his work with The Economist, Micklethwait is also a trustee of the British Museum.
Micklethwait is the co-author of a number of books. Some of these books include 'The Witch Doctors,' 'A Future Perfect: the Challenge and Hidden Promise of Globalisation,' 'God is Back' and 'The Right Nation: A Study of Conservatism in America.'
