Norman is an academic in the fields of cognitive science and usability engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Mathematical Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. After earning his doctorate, he went on to become an associate professor in the Psychology Department at University of California, San Diego. Norman is currently Professor Emeritus of Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology.
Beyond his illustrious academic career, he is probably most well known for his book, 'The Design of Everyday Things.' This book, like presentations by Don Norman, point out the ways in which good design encourages happiness and contentment.
Norman has received numerous awards and honors, including a honorary degree from the University of Padua in Padua, Italy as well as the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science.
