Embracing Weirdness

JP Sears, a YouTuber, speaker, international teacher, and emotional healing coach, starts out his talk on weirdness by asking his audience if they actually make a conscious effort to be themselves. He follows this by saying that being oneself is a bit of a liability, as it can open a person up for ridicule, but it can also open them up for opportunity.

Sears continues his talk on weirdness by considering the negative aspects of being "normal," and how the common quest towards it can prevent a person from reaching their true potential. He says that this can happen as people tend to drown out the qualities that make them unique by trying to ensure that they don't look out of place.

By encouraging his audience to cast away the desire to be normal, Sears motivates them to embrace themselves as they truly are, and to celebrate the experiences, perspectives, and quirks that make them an individual. He concludes by telling his audience that they have to be willing to say "yes" to being weird, so that they can remember to not give into the societal boundaries that can often stunt their growth.
