In his speech on human trafficking, Ryan L. Brooks explains why you should care about the fastest growing illegal business. Described as the most sought after commodity in the black market second only to the drug trade, human trafficking happens everywhere. However, people tend to not care about things they can't see the effects of.
The speech on human trafficking defines modern day slavery as recruiting, transporting, harboring or obtaining an individual by threat or use of force, fraud or coercion for purposes of exploitation, such as sexual exploitation, forced labor or removal of organs. In the United States the definition also includes sex workers under the age of 18.
The speaker goes on to identify many of the reasons why this human rights violation is so rampant, from lack of understanding to legislative inadequacies. He encourages people to be aware, and for employers to ask under what conditions are their workers employed. He also asks regular citizens to contact local legislators and ask what they you doing to combat human trafficking in their area.
