In her speech on creativity, Rachel Mielke explored how to embed creativity into work culture. As a creative young girl, the speaker noticed she gained a sense of accomplishment and empowerment when people connected with something she created. Eventually this feeling resulted in a desire to create her own line of investment-worthy jewelry pieces people can love for a lifetime. Even though she didn’t know how she was going to turn creativity into profits, she launched her first jewelry line.
Noticing how the emotions of freedom, affirmation and empowerment stem from creativity, Mielke knew she needed to integrate creativity into her company’s culture. ‘One of a Kind Friday’ ensued, when the whole company has 30 minutes to create a new piece of jewelry as long as they stay within the monthly theme (ex: statement necklace). The more the team focused on creativity, the more their profits grew. This event provided a challenge to push limits and be innovative. She finished her speech on creativity by saying the positive feelings flowing from creativity help companies, customers and communities.
