In this social sciences speech, Michael Sandel discusses reconnecting science with philosophy (specifically in terms of politics and economics). When asked if science has undermined philosophy, he explains that the two are not exactly separate.
Sandel is excited by the possibility of future philosophers working to reconnect philosophy and science. This will take people who are equipped with knowledge of economics, politics and philosophy. He explains that some of the most well known philosophers, such as David Humes, focused on moral and political economy. There was no such thing as political philosophy separate from morals.
Sandel refers to the social sciences as the most prestigious science. This short keynote explains that science doesn't stand in the way of philosophy. In fact, the two are often intertwined.
