Award-winning author and documentary filmmaker Jon Ronson discusses mental disorders in this psychology keynote. He begins his speech with the story of a man who faked madness to avoid a criminal charge, but ended up faking too well and was sent to a mental institution. He has been there for twelve years.
Ronson explains how it is a lot harder to convince people you're crazy than it is to convince them you're sane. This then leads Ronson into the main point of his speech -- that too many gray areas exist within the realm of mental disorder and mental illness. These gray areas are what deter individuals and make them feel uncomfortable. These gray areas, however, are where lie the complexities, humanities and truth of people today.
