Mitchell Joachim Shows How Architecture and Biology Can Work Together
John Ibbitson — February 3, 2012 — Keynote Trends
In this keynote, urban designer and Associate Professor at NYU Mitchell Joachim shows his audience how an ancient technology that allows one to graft trees together may be used to create sustainable homes in the future as a new form of organic architecture.
He shows how by creating structures that train organic matter to become reinforced as solid structures in which humans are able to live, these homes could become part of the environment. Not only would these homes be better for the environment, but they would also eliminate and filter carbon emissions that already exist with the use of plant matter. In this informative speech, Mitchell Joachim shows how architecture and biology can become one.
