Leveraging Group Morality

Kwame Anthony Appiah earned a Ph.D. at Cambridge University. He is currently the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University. He specializes in political and moral theory, the philosophy of language and mind and African intellectual history. He discusses the process of a moral revolution and the dynamics of persuasion.

Appiah argues that it takes longer than a political revolution, perhaps even generations. The process requires small groups which are crucial for setting a message into motion. These small groups form into organizations, committing themselves to the new norm. Implementing a new idea or alternative perspective into the convention of everyday life can create change.
