Hather Blanchard is a communications specialist. In 2010, she helped create the CrisisCamp. The association became a global movement and boasted waves of volunteers after the Haiti earthquake.
With so many tools in technology, response associations can better encompass the power of digital volunteers. She discusses the idea that "everyone has something to give." A volunteer could have a specific skill, idea or language that could benefit the organization. Though digital humanitarians may not be as connected as a first response team, their contributions are no less influential. The time and skills given by digital activists are just as effective. The message is being spread and those in need are receiving the necessary aid.
Blanchard speaks optimistically on the future benefits of digital volunteers.
