David Bismark is the co-founder of the world's first electronic voting system that is capable of solving what he argues represent today's toughest challenges in elections: transparency and verification. His electronic voting system is founded on the notion that citizens should be able to verify that that their votes have been submitted and counted accurately.
His system features a two-piece ballot, one of which serves as a receipt that voters can bring home with them and use as a method of verification. The second piece features an encryption that is scanned by a computer and stored in a digital file. Throughout his speech, he explains how his electronic voting system also serves as a transparent and democratic process for the media; newspapers and magazines can access voting data by downloading past election results.
