Tom Wujec Describes the Benefits of the Marshmallow Challenge
Jaime Neely — January 10, 2012 — Keynote Trends
Tom Wujec, a Fellow at Autodesk, the world’s leader in 2D & 3D design technology, explains the fascinating purpose and benefits of the Marshmallow Challenge. His speech ‘Build a Tower, Build a Team,’ explains how an exercise requiring a team to build a tower using one yard of tape, one yard of string, twenty pieces of raw spaghetti and one marshmallow, can kick-start creativity amongst a team. The Marshmallow Challenge is a team-building exercise that forces people to collaborate very quickly. Wujec reveals that the Marshmallow Challenge enables teams to capture a shared experience, common language and to understand the value of prototyping and facilitation. Wuvec concludes by sharing the most important takeaway from the Marshmallow Challenge; that design is a contact sport, of which requires thinking, feeling and doing.
