Geoff Mulgan is the CEO of the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts. Mulgan is also a visiting professor at the University College of London and the University of Melbourne. Using his experience in strategy and economics, Mulgan takes on the issue of disinterested students.
Mulgan discusses his innovative curriculum for teenage-level schooling. His approach is to displace teachers with coaches, and assign practical projects working on commission to business. He argues that this tactic will solve two major problems within the educational system today.
The first problem to be tackled is the boredom of students. Youth don't easily recognize the correlation between what they're learning in school and its application in the work force. Secondly, employers are noticing that graduates are lacking skills and entering the work force with a bad attitude.
Mulgan's innovative curriculum is engaging and forward-thinking.
