Entrepreneurial Educational Ecosystems

In her educators talk, Barbara Kurshan discusses what the relationship should be like between entrepreneurs and teachers. She believes the best way forward for our future is an innovative ecosystem for youth made up of researchers, entrepreneurs, teachers, investors and foundations. The result is the Education Design Studio Inc., an otherwise traditional innovation incubator that had its first cohort in September 2013.

The latter half of the educators talk focuses on stories of innovative teachers nurtured by the Education Design Studio. Their entrepreneurial ideas cover a range of topics intended to help young people, including middle school master chef cooking competitions, career counselling for autistic youth, mobile learning apps in Kenya, financial literacy programs and micro-scholarships to ensure students with bright futures can pursue post-secondary education.
