The Value of Classrooms

The modern importance of a classroom in a child's education is discussed in this Diana Laufenberg speech. The American educator discusses the importance of experimental learning. Despite the ever-increasing access that today's children and youth have to information -- either from books or on the Internet -- being able to express themselves and interact with other students still plays an instrumental role in one's education.

Despite the fact that information is much more easy to access today than it was fifty years, the act of being in the classroom, learning my experiment and failure, is still very important. As Laufenberg explains, many students still require that little from educators and mentors to reach their full potential. A classroom is a place in which experimental learning, failure and risk-taking are embraced.
