The Wael Ghonim speech on social media describes his role as an Egyptian activist during the Arab Spring and the vision behind his new venture Parlio. The computer engineer and social entrepreneur is the co-founder of the new media platform to promote civility online as well as the founder of Tahrir Academy, an Arab youth-focused nonprofit organization and "online knowledge sharing platform." He is also a Senior Fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance at Harvard University.
As mentioned in the Wael Ghonim speech, the speaker worked at Google for six years, where he focused on marketing and product in the MENA region. Due to his role in the revolution, the "keyboard freedom fighter" was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011, was named one of Time's 100 Most Influential people and won the JFK Profile in Courage Award.
