Toby Shapshak's speech on African innovation enlightens listeners on the impact that Africa is having on global technological development.
Shapshak was born in Johannesburg and was a former newspaper reporter and now works as a publisher and editor at Stuff Magazine; his work focuses on innovation and creating change, essentially the role that it plays in Africa.
In 2002, he won the top ICT journalist award, and in 2009 he was named M&G influential young South African. Along with working at Stuff, he is also a weekly technology columnist for The Times, focusing on technology trends and their impact.
Shapshak has been writing and speaking about innovation in Africa and technology for the past 15 years; he is now working on a book on how it has become innovation out of necessity in Africa.
