Keynotes by Shelby Harris promote the belief that dreams are a waste of important resources. Harris believes that dream analysis does not really have a purpose and that it would be more beneficial to focus attention on other things.
As a sleep psychologist, Harris possesses an extensive understanding of sleep processes, including dreams. Currently, Harris is the Director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at the Montefiore Medical Center's Sleep-Wake Disorders Center. She is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. With regards to her educational background, Harris earned an honors psychology degree from Brown University. She went on to receive her doctorate in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University's Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Harris is board certified in both Behavioral Sleep Medicine and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Harris is a contributing writer for the New York Times 'Consults Blog' and 'Psychology Today.' Her research was also featured The Wall Street Journal and The Huffington Post.
