The Speeches by Shane Koyczan highlight the struggles of youth. Koyczan is a poet and a writer whose works focus on teenage bullying.
He's the first Canadian who won the Individual Championship title at the National Poetry Slam back in 2000. Koyczan has three published books (Visiting Hours, Stickboy: A Novel in Verse and Our Deathbeds will be Thirsty).
The Visiting Hours was chosen as one of the 2005 Best Books of the Year lists by the Guardian and The Globe and Mail. Koyczan showcased his work at the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Koyczan is a co-founder of the spoken word, "talk rock" trio, Tons of Fun University (T.O.F.U.).
He also released a digital album about abuse and inspiration entitled Remembrance Year.' Koyczan released an animated video of his poem 'To This Day' on YouTube and at the TED Conference in February of 2013.
