Shaily Mahendra

Shaily Mahendra’s speeches are a fascinating exploration of pollution measurement and using natural resources for detection. In particular, she suggests using natural resources to determine the amount of pollution that is occurring and using these resources to reverse damage that has already occurred. Mahendra believes that by understanding the implications of technology and biotechnology, both the environment and the public health system will as a result benefit.

As an Associate Professor at the University of California, Mahendra holds a Ph.D. from UCLA, a M.S. from Syracus University and a B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology. Mahendra’s extensive knowledge and research on molecular biology and microbial interactions has proclaimed her an expert on issues of pollution and bacteria and made her one of ten Nanotechnology Researchers in 2010. As a result of her research and extensive experiments, Mahendra has been honored with countless awards such as the Excellence in Review Award, the CH2M-Hill/AEESP Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award and the Best Technical Presentation Award.
