Rohini Swaminathan

The Rohini Swaminathan talk about natural disasters shares her personal experience growing up in a remote forest in south India and how the 2004 tsunami and its devastation led to her eventual study of geomatics. As mentioned in the Rohini Swaminathan talk, she currently works as a consultant for UNITAR (the United Nations Institute for Training And Research). Based in the Geneva area of Switzerland, the speaker specializes in capacity development, disaster management, GIS and remote sensing.

The geomatician has previous experience working as a Center Lead for the NASA DEVELOP National Program in Wise, Virginia. At Purdue University, she also worked as a Graduate Administrative Assistant and German Instructor. She received a Bachelor of Engineering in Geoinformatics from Anna University and an MSc in Geomatics from Purdue University.
