Richard Saul Wurman

Creatively finding ways to rethink what is possible and expand that knowledge to the masses is often the subject of the enlightening and engaging keynote speeches by Richard Saul Wurman.

As the Founder of the TED, TEDMED, eg & WWW Conferences, he has been fueled by his passion for understanding the unknown and has authored 83 books that span a wide array of topics from medicine to informational architecture. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with B.Arch. and M.Arch. degrees and has worked in various fields upon graduation including teaching, architecture and design as well as coining the phrase "information architect" which refers to the practice of dispersing information in an easily understandable manner.

It is this practice that makes keynote speeches by Richard Saul Wurman so engaging and what prompted his shift into the world of conference duration so as to more effectively spread information across a wide audience.

His work is being rewarded this year with the the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Award by Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, which he will add to his numerous other awards including his Guggenheim Fellowship and three honorary doctorates.
