Rebecca Mackinnon

Mackinnon graduated from Havard University with honours in Government and became a Fulbright scholar in Taiwan afterwards. Her move was probably influenced by her childhood upbringing in Asia. She also wrote for Newsweek as a stringer before returning to the States to become a CNN correspondent and later, Bureau Chief.

In 2004, she became a Fellow at Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, where she co-founded Global Voices Online as a project. She secured Fellow status at George Soros' Open Society Institute, Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy and the New America Foundation as well.
