Peter Straub's keynotes point out that storytelling is a natural human activity. It is a reflexive way of making sense of the world, of organizing chaos into something that can be understood. As is clear from his writing, Straub is no stranger to storytelling.
As a recipient of such awards as the World Fantasy Award, the Bram Stoker Award, and International Horror Guild Award, Straub is one of the most celebrated horror authors in recent times. He has written well over a dozen books, including 'Shadowland' (1983), 'The Hellfire Club' (1995) and 'A Dark Matter' (2010), which all received awards and are among the most successful books in the contemporary horror genre.
Straub holds an honors B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in English as well as a M.A. from Columbia University. After his education he moved to Dublin, Ireland to begin his professional writing career.
