Pardis Sabeti

The Pardis Sabeti speeches explore genetic resistances to diseases and the stigmas associated with words such as outbreak, and contagion. Sabeti is currently an Assistant Professor at Harvard University.

She graduated from the Massachusetts Institue of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and later went on to achieve a Master’s degree in Human Biology, and also achieved a D.Phil in Bilogical Anthropology from the University of Oxford, and an M.D in Medicine from Harvard Medical School.

Awards that she’s received include the Packard Foundation Award in Science and Engineering, a Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award in Biomedical Sciences, as well as an NIH Innovator Award. She developed a family statistical test that looks for common genetic variants.
