The Mindy Kaling speech given at Harvard Law School's Class Day discusses the influence lawyers have on the rights of American citizens. Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Dartmouth graduate went on to be a writer for the hit comedy series The Office, eventually directing several episodes and becoming an executive producer on the NBC television program. Her contributions received multiple Emmy Award nominations, and several wins as part of an ensemble cast. In addition to portraying Kelly Kapoor on the show, the actress went on to write a memoir entitled 'Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)' in 2011.
After The Office came to an end, the Class Day speaker went on to create her own television series on Fox called The Mindy Project, where she plays the lead role of Mindy Lahiri. The Mindy Kaling speech mentions her many talents and titles, although 'esquire' is not one of them.
