Csikszentmihalyi is currently the Davidson Professor of Psychology and Management at Claremont Graduate University. Here, his research focuses on creativity, innovation and management of flow. Prior to this post, he was former head of the department of sociology and anthropology at Lake Forest College and of the department of psychology at the University of Chicago.
Originally hailing from Hungary, Csikszentmihalyi moved to the United States when he was 22. He soon went on to earn his B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1960 and 1965, respectively. Presentations by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi draw on this lifetime of study, incorporating a myriad of points from the depths of history and cultures across the world to arrive at intriguing conclusions. In 2011 he returned to the country of his birth to accept the Széchenyi Prize in Budapest.
