Maira Kalman

The Maira Kalman speeches explain the importance of imagination, and how creativity can be sparked from unlikely sources. Kalman is an arts and culture illustrator based out of Manhattan, New York.

Kalman has illustrated and authored 13 children’s books, including titles such as 'Ooh-la-la,' 'What Pete Ate' and 'Fireboat.' She also frequently contributes to the New Yorker Magazine, and is currently in the process of designing an illustrated column for the New Yorker based on museums and libraries. Kalman created two online columns for the New York Times, the first is called ‘ The Principles of Uncertainty,’ which was completed in 2007 and ‘The Pursuit of Happines’ in 2009.

Kalman is a graduate from the Bank Street College of Education and Trinity College-Hartford. The Maira Kalman speeches are entertaining and provide a glimpse into the life of an illustrator.
