The Nicholas Stern speeches on climate change discuss two pivotal transformations that the world must face in the next two decades. The Baron of Brentford is an academic and economist, currently acting as the IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government, Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment Chair at the London School of Economics and British Academy President.
The speaker was educated at a number of institutions such as Latymer Upper School, Cambridge and Oxford. He then taught as the University of Oxford, University of Warwick and the LSE. From 1994 to 1999, the political economist worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as the Chief Economist and Special Counsellor to the President.
Before becoming the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank in 2000, he was Chairman of London Economics. After his time at the World Bank, the speaker became a civil servant where he was asked to conduct reviews on climate change. The Nicholas Stern speeches clearly reflect his immense expertise on the subject.
