As an actor, Penn has a keen insight into the world of entertainment and its relationship with people's worldviews. As an Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement and political activist, Penn is well versed in political and social issues.
Penn was born to Gujarati immigrants from India in New Jersey. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Sociology and Film, a double major which would foreshadow his career as an actor and civil servant.
In terms of acting, Penn's debut was 'Express: Aisle to Glory.' However, he is most widely known for his role in 'Harold and Kumar,' 'National Lampoon's Van Wilder' and 'American Desi.'
