Joseph Heath

As a professor of philosophy, Joseph Heath's speeches are, not surprisingly, grounded in philosophical concepts. What he does with such concepts, though, is surprising. While many view philosophy as an arcane discipline, remote from everyday life and the modern world, Heath applies logical and epistemological frameworks to contemporary discussions; he points out errors and mistaken assumptions in order to refine such discussions.

Heath is a faculty member of the University of Toronto, where aside from philosophy he also teaches at the School of Public Policy and Governance. He holds a B.A. from McGill University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University. Joseph Heath's speeches draw on his work as a scholar, employing not just knowledge from his own field but from others as well, most notably commerce and economics.
