A key point of Doctorow's view is that digital copyright laws have, in general, not served either creators or users well since the dawn of the Internet.
Doctorow is a co-editor and blogger at the popular group blog BoingBoing.com. As he does in his speeches, Cory Doctorow writes about issues relating to intellectual property law, futurism and social and political developments.
Doctorow is also the author of a number of books including both fiction and nonfiction. Consistent with his views on copyright laws, he publishes many of these books under a creative commons license. He has also won awards for his writings. His novel 'Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom' won the 2004 Locus Award for Best First Novel and his 2008 book, 'Little Brother,' was a bestseller.
