Dibona studied at George Mason University and Carnergie Mellon University, where he received a B.S. in computer science and a M.S. in software engineering respectively.
DiBona is most well known for his advocacy and efforts in promoting open source software. In addition to his work at Google and his past editing and writing positions, he also serves as a visiting scholar at the MIT Sloan School of Management and has made a number of television appearances on 'The Screensavers' and 'Cranky Geeks' on TechTV.
