The engaging presentations by Carlo Ratti are founded upon his critically acclaimed career as an architect and engineer. The Italian professional is primarily based in Turin, Italy, the very place in which he was born. Ratti graduated from the field of engineering from France's Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chausees and from Italy's Politecnico di Torino. He went on to earn his MPhil and PhD accreditation's at the University of Cambridge.
Ratti's collegiate pursuits were followed by his position as a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow in 2000 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has since then established an impressive following, launching the MIT Senseable City Lab in 2004. There he has guided academic groups in the exploration of the 'real-time city,' spearheading novel approaches to urban design. His intense focus upon the merger of electronics with metropolitan spaces led him to receive the Queensland Innovator in Residence initiative in 2009.
