Bernard Lietaer

Bernard Lietaer's keynotes delve into the realm of economics and monetary structures and discuss various ways that the system can be overhauled to work more effectively not just on a national level, but also on a global level.

He completed his studies and thesis publication at MIT in 1971, after which he became known to the world for his skill and insight of the monetary system.

While working at the Central Bank in Belgium, he co-designed and then implemented the convergence mechanism which transformed the European currency system into one single entity. His expertise has been sought after across four continents from everyone from multinational corporations to the officials in developing countries and he was named by Business Week to be 'The World’s Top Currency Trader,' in 1992.

Two of his most prominent books, 'The Future of Money: Beyond Greed and Scarcity' and 'Of Human Wealth,' have both been influential in shaping monetary policies and his numerous other published works have also achieved critical acclaim.
