Keynotes by Adrienne Russell focus on past transitions and current transitions that the journalism industry is undergoing. As an Associate Professor of Digital Media Studies at the University of Denver, Russell has a clear understanding of the evolution that journalism has taken. She also holds the position of co-director of the Institute for Digital Humanities. Prior to her current position, she was a professor at the American University of Paris for the Department of Global Communications and a Research Fellow at the Annenberg Center for Communication at the University of Southern California.
Russell possesses an extensive resume as she holds a Bachelor of Arts in World Literature and Cultural Studies, a Master in Media Studies from Stanford and an impressive Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Indiana University.
Russell has been an avid researcher with regards to the examination of journalism from its conception until now and has written mainly on this subject. Her most recent publication, 'Networked: A Contemporary History of News in Transition' thoroughly examines the transformation of journalism. Russell was also consulted for MIT's publication 'Networked Publics' that investigated how technologies alter our relationship and co-authored 'International Blogging: Identity, Politics and Networked Publics.'
