Shannon Brownlee

Shannon Brownlee's keynotes focus on the current state of the health care system within the United States and the problems facing the institutions, doctors and patients. As a premier expert within the field of medicine, the Acting Director at New American Foundation Health Policy Program and Instructor at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, Brownlee approaches her subject with a lifetime of medical knowledge to support her.

As the author of 'Overtreated,' her acclaimed book won the 'Best Economics Book of 2007' title from the New York Times. Her education includes the University of California, Santa Cruz where she earned an MS in Marine Science. Later, Brownlee worked as a senior writer for Discover Magazine, Sports Illustrated, U.S. News & World Report and holds her current position with the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and New American Foundation alongside working as a Visiting Fellow for the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
