Manen has recently applied the data collection software used in Formula 1 races to heart monitors at children's hospitals.
Manen installed this software in the Intensive Care Unit at The Birmingham Children's Hospital. This software accurately detects irregularities in heart rates. It has helped to prevent cardiac arrests in children.
Manen believes that in the not too distant future this data collection software will be available on smartphones. He believes it can be used for a number of things.
