Al-Mutawa is a clinical psychologist who holds a Bachelor's degree from Tufts University, where he achieved majors in clinical psychology, English literature and history. He then completed his Master's degree in organizational psychology from the Teacher’s College at Colombia University, as well as a Master's in Business Administration. Al-Mutawa went on to achieve a PhD in clinical psychology from the Long Island University.
THE 99 comic series has been named one of the top 20 trends across the world, and was also hailed by President Barack Obama as an incredibly innovative entrepreneurial venture. Al-Mutawa has received numerous awards including the Eliot-Pearson Award for Excellence in Children's Media, from Tufts University, as well as the 2009 Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Award.
