The Martin Hilbert talk is on big data and its role in our future world. The speaker currently works as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis in the Department of Communication as well as an External Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in their School of Communications and at Adolfo Ibanez University in Complex Systems Engineering. His multidisciplinary research focuses on how communication, information and knowledge influences economic, political, psychological and social development.

He also acted as a Provost Research Fellow at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School of Communication.
