In his presentations, Jeff Rubin delineates the economic underpinnings of globalization. He focuses on the role that energy plays in the current economic global structure and points out that this structure will collapse if oil prices become too high. As an economist and award-winning author, Rubin's views on this subject are impeccably well thought out and thoroughly evidenced.
Rubin obtained his Bachelors degree in economics from the University of Toronto before earning his Master's degree, also in economics, from McGill University. He then went on to work for CIBC, eventually becoming the chief economist at CIBC World Markets.
Rubin is the author of 'Why Your World Is About to Get a Whole Lot Smaller: Oil and the End of Globalization,' for which he won the Canadian Book of the Year Award in 2009. In this book and his presentations, Jeff Rubin demonstrates that the cost of energy will make many practices of the current global economy prohibitively expensive in the near future, leading to more localized economies.
